Engraving

What can be engraved on your Pet ID Tag?

You can get as creative as you like when it comes to the engraving on your pet tag. Many owners like to include their pet's name, (and/or their name), plus address and phone number(s).  The key is to make sure that anyone who finds your pet can find you, and/or your home quickly.

But here's an interesting thought - a client reminded us that if your pet's name is on the tag, it makes it easier for someone to steal your pet. So if you think your pet would be a candidate for being stolen, maybe just put your name and contact details on the tag.

It's important to consider the size of the tag when you are deciding on what to include - bearing in mind that the more text you include, the smaller/tighter the text will be (in order to fit on the tag). So if you are ordering a small tag for your dog or cat, you may just include your name or your pet's name, and a contact phone number. For the small tags we definitely recommend keeping the text as succinct as possible, but of course there is also the option of tags that can be engraved on 2 sides which provides more scope for creativity! For a larger tag, you could include more details, such as adding an address and/or additional contact numbers such as your vet.

This is the typical information that our clients consider including on thier tags.

Pet’s name, your name, address, contact phone number/s

Pet’s medical needs eg diabetic, do not feed

Vet's phone number

Other info eg "I am deaf" "I bite" (!)

The most important thing is to make sure the tag is engraved with the necessary info that will secure a safe return  home, but bearing in mind that the more text you include, the smaller/tighter the text will be!

What tag is best for me?

With a wide range of designs, each with 3 optional sizes, and available in plastic, brass, enamel, titanium, and stainless steel it can be challenging making your choice! Firstly when considering the size of your tag, please bear in mind that the metal tags are heavier than the plastic tags. So if your pet is "a little one" you may either want to select a small tag, or a plastic tag. Please refer to our size guide for more information on the size of the tag that would be right for your pet!

Of course our stainless, brass and plastic pet id tags can be engraved on 2 sides so that also gives you more scope to include more information and be creative!

Our tags are very strong and resilient and come with a lifetime guarantee - however if your dog is prone to chewing we would suggest either stainless steel or brass, rather than plastic.

Remember whatever you choose, and wherever you are, the quoted price includes the engraving, and delivery.
